Wikipedia Definition: Affiliate Marketing is an Internet-based marketing practice in which a business rewards one or more affiliates for each visitor or customer brought about by the affiliate's marketing efforts. It is an application of crowdsourcing.
My Definition in simple words: Affiliate marketing is an internet based program in which you sell someone else's product online, you dont have to go out in field from doors to doors. You do all the sales on internet. And its not tough you just have to be a creative writer. Like for example: you have a free blog, you write anything about any of your interests( animals, birrds, nature, travel, celebrities, mobiles etc.) With your content on the page, just publish the links of the seller. If people are coming to your blogs, reading the content they are absolutely interested in that. They click on the links you provide, and if they like they will buy it.
For instance, you join an affiliate program to promote a beauty product: "how to get a beautiful skin". You write the article and promote it on your blog. The product costs $45, and you earn $10 per sale. (This is realistic, a lot of programs like that exists).
In simple words, there are thousands of people who are unaware of thousands of products. Its your creativity to attract the attention and push them to the product of their choices. They wil love your pages, if your content helps them in their needs.
